Colorado Option Standardized Plan Stakeholder Meetings

As you may know, the Governor signed the Colorado Option, HB21-1232, into law in July and the Division of Insurance is now engaged in implementing the legislation. One of the first steps is for the Division to develop a standardized health insurance plan that carriers will offer here in Colorado beginning in 2023. Under the law, the plan must be designed to improve access, affordability, and racial health equity and reduce racial health disparities; there is also a requirement that the network of providers for the plan be culturally responsive.  

The Division is committed to hearing from all stakeholders regarding their thoughts on the Colorado Option.  In addition to six large multi-group stakeholder meetings, we have set up a series of meetings to address specific stakeholder groups and their concerns. I wanted to be sure that you knew there is a virtual meeting for health care providers scheduled for September 10th from 12 to 1 pm.  You can find the link to register for this meeting, as well as all other stakeholder meetings, on the Division's Colorado Option website: https://doi.colorado.gov/insurance-products/health-insurance/health-insurance-legislation/colorado-option.  

In addition to these engagement opportunities, we have established an email account for questions and comments specific to the Colorado Option; individuals can share information there as well: [email protected]. We have  created a google form (also on the website) that people can use to share their thoughts. 

I hope you and your colleagues might participate in this process, and you might share this information with your networks. We would really like to hear from Coloradans across the state.
