Colorado Office of eHealth Innovation a nd Prescriber Tools
The Colorado Governor Polis and Lt. Gove rnor Primavera have an ambitious goal to reduce health care costs while ens uring culturally responsive and equitable access to care. Part of that wor k includes the Office of Saving People Money on Health Care as th e cornerstone of our efforts to reduce the cost of healthcare for Coloradan s and is overseen by Lt. Governor Primavera. They work include reducing pa tient costs for hospital stays and expenses, improving price transparency, lowering the price of prescription drugs, and making health insurance more affordable. This office will focus on identifying and addressing the root c auses of the outrageous cost of health care -- not just shifting the costs around but truly addressing the underlying causes.
A primary work gro up towards this effort is the Office of eHealth Innovation whose primary work is the application of technology to accelerate health transformation and through expanding the utility of H ealth IT.
The current priority of the eHealth innovation work group is the advancement of a standardized Prescriber Toolkit. The Prescriber too lkit is being designed to provide prescribers links to prescription drug mo nitoring programs, decision support tools as well as tracking of all medica tion prescriptions in one database including costs.
The first phase r oll out became effective January 1, 2021 and is specific to Opioid prescrip tion monitoring (OpiSafe).
Additional tools available will include pr ices, formulary, and copay insights; ePrescribing, e-prior authorizations, and is currently operational with most EHR's in Colorado (Rx Affordability Module) which became operational for all Medicaid providers as of June 1, 2 021.
Currently 85% of Medicaid's 24,459 prescr ibers are already enabled to use the tool and 40% are already using the too l for commercial, i.e.: Cigna, United, Anthem have their reimbursements loa ded.
We invite you to join us Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at 6 :15pm for a presentation by Rob Valuck, PhD, RPh, FNAP for an overview of O piSafe as well as more details about forthcoming technology enhanced prescr iber information.
