Clinical Staff Workplace Survey

Colorado Nurses Association is seeking updates to our clinical staff survey related to priorities for workplace advocacy.  The great news is, we are hearing from many of you as you receive the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.   Well deserved and thank you for your ongoing effort provide care under the conditions we are faced with.

Racism and Oppression in Health Care

In recognition of the deleterious effects of racial disparities in health care, SIG 31 and the Colorado Nurses Association is sponsoring a virtual presentation entitled: Checking our Vital Signs: Racism & Oppression in Health Care, a web-based training that will take place on January 19, 2021 from 6 to 9 PM. There is no cost to attend this event but you must register and space is limited. 

We are pleased and honored to have presenters who have a depth of experience training health care professionals using an Intercultural Development Continuum and a program they have developed to help us identify and think through ways of addressing systemic oppression both in our internal experience and our professional roles. The presenters are led by Ms. Deran Young, LCSW, MSW, MPA, who has vast experience in intersectional mental health, diversity, social justice, and organizational behavior. She is an innovative leader, social worker, and activist. She has global clinical experience with a work history that spans the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia. She and her team will bring the Intercultural Development Continuum training to Colorado Nurses. Please join us for this wonderful opportunity to explore the topic of racial disparities from the inside out.  Register early, space is limited.

Colorado Healthcare Facilities Urgently Seeking Staff

December 22, 2020

Colorado hospitals and long term care facilities are facing a critical shortage of staff to provide ongoing care for both COVID+ and non-COVID patients.  Both urban and rural facilities are experiencing increase need for staff due to multiple factors, one of which is the increasing COVID+ health care workers.

Colorado Hospital Association is offering a central registration process for available nursing and respiratory therapy staff.  The systems is easy to access and register on and resources will be shared both short-term and long-term for contingency staffing.

Colorado Rural Health Centers are also coordinating a healthcare provider recruitment and retention program for those nurses that are looking for opportunities specifically in rural areas.

Emergency Declaration DORA Stakeholder Meeting

December 11, 2020

You are invited to attend a webinar with the Colorado Division of Professions and Occupations to discuss a legislative proposal being put forward in response to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The proposed bill would grant regulatory boards and programs within DPO or the Division greater flexibility to respond to similar, widespread disaster emergencies in the future.
 
The Division is hosting a virtual stakeholder meeting as an opportunity for the public to learn more about the proposal and allow the Division to gather public feedback. As a dedicated stakeholder, your comments are especially valuable. 
 
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 22, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
