Colorado Health Facilities Staffing Shortage Fusion Center Updates

February 14, 2022

The State of Colorado’s Staffing Shortage Fusion Center (SSFC) has been providing staff resources in response to the COVID-19 staffing crisis to Colorado’s health facilities since November 2020. The SSFC was reactivated on September 30, 2021 and has since deployed more than 1200 supplemental medical staff to more than 285 healthcare facilities throughout the state.

State funded staffing assistance will end effective April 1, 2022. The Staffing Shortage Fusion Center will demobilize and terminate operations on that date. Staffing assistance may continue for select facilities from other sources after SSFC demobilization. The timeline and details are provided below along with information about other staffing resources.
  • March 1
  • Last day to submit requests for staffing support through the SSFC. Use THIS FORM for all staffing requests.
  • March 12
  • Last working day for Colorado National Guard support.
  • March 31
  • Last working day for supplemental medical staff.
  • April 1
  • SSFC terminates operations and all associated activities.
The SSFC will no longer accept requests from facilities with COVID-19 related staff shortages after March 1, 2022. If you have any questions about staffing resources, eligibility criteria, or other facility-specific needs, please contact the fusion center at [email protected]. Facilities should plan for sustainable long term staffing without State assistance, including considerations for future COVID-19 surges.
