Monkeypox Bootcamp ECHO Series

September 6, 2022

Monkeypox is a typically rare viral infection that is spread through close contact. The White House declared Monkeypox a Public Health Emergency in August, as the number of cases across the US and other countries continues to increase. In Colorado, the number and geographic spread of Monkeypox has increased since the first case was reported in May 2022. Based on the best currently available data, Monkeypox will continue to be a public health concern for the immediate future. Healthcare providers need public health and clinical information to help prevent, diagnosis and treat Monkeypox cases in the ambulatory and inpatient setting.
This series will include two, weekly, hour-long sessions. Each session will include didactic presentations and case study review, along with participant Q&A.
Colorado health care providers (MD, DO, APP, RN, etc.) and administrators who care for patients in the primary care or hospital setting and are likely to care for patients with Monkeypox

September 9 and 16

Colorado Health Care Workforce Investment Stakeholder Meetings

September 6, 2022

As you may know, Senate Bill 22-226 passed in the last Colorado legislative session to promote health professional workforce development. The bill has directed the various state agencies to develop Programs to Support Health-care Workforce. Under the new law, the Primary Care Office (PCO) at CDPHE is leading efforts to expand clinical training capacity in Colorado. The identification of clinical training capacity as a barrier to health workforce expansion was first identified by the PCO during a stakeholder engagement process conducted in 2012 under a grant related to the passage of the Affordable Care Act. More can be found about that engagement and planning process here.

SB 22-226 presents a rare opportunity for Colorado to move forward on workforce development strategies that have previously been under-resourced. Strategies that may be promoted through this work include but are not limited to:

· Establishment of clinical training registries

· Recruitment and training of clinical instructors and preceptors

· Financing of new clinical training sites or expansion of existing clinical training sites

· Support for graduates to accumulate necessary supervised practice hours prior to becoming licensed

· Enhancements to technologies at clinical training locations that enhance and/or accelerate clinical education

Two meetings have been scheduled for Monday September 12th from 1:00-3:00 PM and Friday September 16th from 1:00-3:00 PM. The meetings are intended to gather stakeholder input into the design and details of fundable grant activities under the program. Both sessions will be very similar in content, so attendance at only one is necessary for you to provide input. These meetings will be conducted via Zoom, and the links to join are further down in this email. Additional input will be gathered through a web survey, which will be sent out sometime after the sessions.

It is possible that additional stakeholder engagement will be necessary prior to the release of a Request for Application. Please watch for additional notices to that effect. Also, please forward this information on to others in your network who might be interested in attending.

If you have any questions or wish to submit ideas in writing, please reach out to Tamara Davis ([email protected]) or Kathy Jacobsen ([email protected])

Thank you for your support of this important work in Colorado.
