7th International Congress on Donor Human Milk Banking “Unlocking the Science of Human Milk” on April 16th & 17th, 2018 in Denver, Colorado

The Human Milk Banking Association of North America’s annual conference has been held in many cities in North America and now it is coming to the Denver area. It is a wonderful chance for Colorado nurses to learn and meet others in their field who also work with infant feeding.

This essential conference will bring together experts in human milk, lactation and donor human milk banking from across the globe. This is an exciting opportunity for healthcare providers including nurses who work with infants in Colorado to come together to discover the latest research, earn educational credits and update practice in order to best serve tiny patients.

Call for Action: Nurses Lead and Transform Palliative Care Deadline January 2, 2018

Dr. Harleah Buck, Co-Chair of the 2017 ANA-HPNA Professional Issues Panel on Palliative Care is working with the American Academy of Nursing Palliative Care and End of Life Expert Panel to develop an implementation plan for the Palliative Care Call to Action.

Palliative Care APRN Fellowship Funding Opportunity

APRNs interested in developing or advancing their palliative care skills are invited to apply for the 2018 PALLIATIVE CARE APRN EXTERNSHIP program announced below. Financial support of the Cambia Health Foundation’s Sojourns Scholars Leadership Program and administrative support from the Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association make this learning experience possible.

THE PALLIATIVE CARE APRN EXTERNSHIP

PROMOTING ACCESS TO QUALITY PRIMARY PALLIATIVE CARE – AN APRN WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Announcing a 5 day-long immersion course with faculty from leading palliative care programs. The goal of this program is to provide extensive primary palliative education to APRNs to enrich their competency to care for patients with serious illness. The course combines didactic including: pain and symptom management communication skill building, quality, program development, with clinical.

Each cohort includes 6 participants allowing individual participant attention from the site faculty.

The program is targeted for novice APRNs, or APRNs seeking a course to update their palliative care skills. The application process is based on rolling admission and program availability.
