State Board of Nursing Stakeholder Meeting March 21 Regarding Delegation in Schools & Licensed Child Care Facilities

The State Board of Nursing will hold a Stakeholder Meeting on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, on Board Rule Chapter 13 - Sections 7, 8, 9. Stakeholder input is crucial to achieving the Department’s missions of consumer protection and effective licensure and enforcement, without unnecessary impediment to the economic market. Please make yourselves heard by joining us at the upcoming stakeholder meeting.

Three Ways to Participate:
1.    In Person: Civic Center Plaza, 1560 Broadway, Conference Room 1250C, Denver, CO 80202.
3.    By Written Comment: Please provide written comments for consideration via email to [email protected] by 5 p.m. on March 21, 2017.
 
Meeting Format:
 
Attendees may provide written comments, concerns, and proposals to the Board in advance, in person at the meeting, or following the meeting. Participants will be able to discuss topics brought forward during the meeting. Program staff will moderate the discussion to ensure there is an equitable opportunity for all stakeholders who wish to actively participate, and to ensure that comments and suggested changes are collected for the Board's consideration and future rulemaking.

ANA President Video with MSNBC

As you know, ANA delivered a Congressional letter and issued a statement to the media this week stating our opposition the House Republicans’ health reform legislation, the American Health Care Act (AHCA). More than two dozen national publications and TV news outlets have cited ANA in stories and interviews about the health care groups that oppose AHCA, including The New York Times, The Atlantic, Forbes, Politico, NBC News, Medscape and CNN. 

Earlier today, ANA President Pam Cipriano appeared on MSNBC with host Ali Velshi (see video below) and on Tuesday ANA was mentioned on CNN by host Don Lemon (see video below). We wanted to share this news coverage with you to illustrate the incredible impact of nurses! ANA will continue to work to ensure that nurses’ voices are heard during these important discussions about health care.

SAMHSA MAT Prescribing: Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Update

This week, SAMHSA launched a new webpage explaining how nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) can begin prescribing the opioid-addiction medication buprenorphine. Prior to prescribing, NPs and PAs need to complete a 24-hour training and apply for a DATA-waiver. NPs and PAs who successfully complete the required training and DATA-waiver application will be able to treat up to 30 patients.
