This two-day training is based on the foundations of our Patient Navigator Level 1, but geared especially to Community Health Workers (CHWs) making home visits.

This comprehensive course is introductory “Level 1” training for patient navigators who want to gain navigation skills and knowledge of patient resources, basic health promotion, professional conduct and motivational interviewing.

Coordinated care contributes to patient-centered, high-quality care. This Level 2 course prepares patient navigators to coordinate care for their clients.

Health Care Service Prices Vary Widely Across Colorado and Are Driven by More Than Geography and Volume - CIVHC

A new CO APCD report reveals that payments for health care services vary widely across Colorado and it's impossible to draw general conclusions about variation in prices based solely on geography or volume of services performed.
For example, in 2014, the Western Slope had the highest median paid amount for brain MRIs, yet this region was not the highest cost region for any other service analyzed.
Similarly, while residents of Northeast Colorado paid thousands of dollars more than the statewide median for dorsal/lumbar spinal surgeries as well as knee and hip replacements, they were not the highest cost region for colonoscopies or head CT exams.
“This report underscores the need to better understand the drivers behind these fluctuating health care costs so that we can address the disparities,” said Ana English, CIVHC CEO. “As an organization, we are committed to providing this type of compelling information in order to inform efforts to move all of Colorado toward a value-based health care system.”

Preparing Registered Nurses for Enhanced Roles in Primary Care January 12, 2017 Denver Sponsored by the American Academy of Nursing

Following the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation’s conference, Preparing Registered Nurses for Enhanced Roles in Primary Care, the American Academy of Nursing is partnering with the Independence Blue Cross Foundation in Philadelphia on January 11, and with the University of Colorado, College of Nursing in Aurora on January 12, to share the resulting actionable recommendations.
Put into practice, the recommendations will ensure that registered nurses are partners in transforming primary care to improve the health and wellness of our communities.
The discussion will center on recommendations generated by leaders in nursing, primary care, healthcare delivery, philanthropy, social work, government, and academia who participated in the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation Conference on Preparing Registered Nurses for Enhanced Roles in Primary Care. Help ANA fight for CRNAs to have full practice authority in the VHA Final Rule -- Deadline for comments is Friday, January 13th!

There is still time to fight for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) inclusion in U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) final rule during its second public comment period, which ends this Friday, January 13. Help us advocate for CRNAs by clicking here to customize and submit a pre-written comment letter which will be sent directly to the VA.
Since its announcement on December 13, ANA has been highlighting the VA’s groundbreaking rule, which would allow nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists and certified nurse-midwives to work independently without physician supervision in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). As the nation’s largest employer of nurses, this rule will allow APRNs full practice authority regardless of state or local law restrictions, but excluded over 900 CRNAs currently employed by the VA. While we commend VA Secretary McDonald and Under Secretary Shulkin for taking this critical step to ensure our nation’s Veterans receive the high quality health care they have earned, we continue to stress our extreme disappointed that the VA failed to extend full practice authority to CRNAs. Here is ANA’s letter urging the VA urging to implement and include CRNAs in its final rule. ANA is also cosigning comment letters with the Nursing Community and APRN coalitions to aggressively fight for CRNA inclusion in the final rule.
